In collaboration with Ocean Rising, WORDTheatre staged Our Liquid Universe - a rich blend of ocean themed storytelling, poetry, and orchestral music at Wilderness Festival.

The impressive 12 strong cast included Harriet Walter, Bellamy Young, Danny Sapani,  Jing Lusi and many more.

EDUCATION

Invited to speak at Goodwood’s Future Lab, Ocean Rising delivered a talk to inspire younger audiences about careers in science and tech and the role of storytelling and culture in creating empathy for the ocean.

ART AND MUSIC

First Light Festival aims to reconnect local people with Lowestoft's ocean heritage. Ocean Rising worked with our partners at Messums Gallery and Sonic Collaborations to produce ocean‑themed cultural programming. 

EDUCATION

In partnership with Communications Inc, Ocean Rising hosted a networking event at UNOC attended by around 120 representatives from ocean-focused organisations.

The event aimed to introduce Ocean Rising to the broader ocean community, spark collaboration, and promote our work.

SPORTS

Ocean Rising hosted a workshop that brought together sports industry leaders from various sectors to develop actionable ideas for strengthening ocean connection and engagement within the sporting world.

EDUCATION

Ocean Rising worked with the Rise programme and Rhodes Trust at Oxford University, to deliver a workshop for Rise Fellows, exceptional young change makers (aged 15 - 19 representing 49 countries) globally.

Global fashion giant UNIQLO  has launched ocean themed embroidery designs to spotlight the Ocean through fashion.  The ten designs, by former Artist-at-Sea Pei-Wen Jen, were inspired by her time at sea through Ocean Rising and Redress.

Two fashion designers and a Vogue film maker join the Schmidt Ocean Institute Research Vessel Falkor (too).

LAUNCH

Nekton and Schmidt Ocean Institute held a virtual workshop with 165 attendees to discuss how to weave the story of the ocean into everyday cultural life. The workshop was part of the UN Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development - Decade Lab Series: An Inspiring and Engaging Ocean. Discussions led by eight experts from different sectors.

A subsequent White Paper: Ocean Rising, The Quest to Inspire the Public was published and formed the foundations for establishing Ocean Rising.
